Spain Holidays
Spain is the place most of us go back to, and there’s a good reason for that. It’s two or three hours from almost any UK airport, the Canary Islands stay warm right through winter, and you can do it on a tight budget or spend properly on a five-star with a private pool.
The hard part is choosing. Majorca or Tenerife? All inclusive or half board? February sun or the summer holidays? This page will help you narrow it down, and when you want real prices for your dates, you can message us on WhatsApp or call 0203 925 4555. Every package holiday we sell comes with flights, hotel and ATOL protection, and if you’ve seen the same holiday cheaper online, we’ll aim to beat it by £30.

Where to go in Spain
Think of Spain as three holidays in one. The Balearic Islands are your classic summer Mediterranean. The Canary Islands, off the coast of Africa, are the winter sun option. And the mainland costas give you the widest choice of resorts plus cities you can bolt on.
Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza (the Balearics)
Majorca has a resort for almost everyone. Families tend to love Alcúdia and Puerto Pollensa in the north, with their shallow bays. Palma Nova and Santa Ponsa are livelier but still family-friendly, Cala d’Or is prettier and calmer, and Magaluf is where you go if you want the nightlife. Palma itself makes a brilliant city break, cathedral and all. Menorca is quieter, greener and has some of the clearest water in the Med, which is why it suits couples and young families. Ibiza is famous for clubbing in San Antonio, but the north of the island is surprisingly peaceful. The Balearics are at their best from May to October.
Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura (the Canaries)
This is where Britain goes for winter sun, with daytime temperatures that usually sit in the low twenties even in January. Tenerife is the biggest and busiest: Costa Adeje is the smarter end, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos have more going on, and Puerto de la Cruz in the north feels more Spanish. Lanzarote is volcanic and laid-back, with Playa Blanca, Puerto del Carmen and Costa Teguise as the main resorts. Gran Canaria has the dunes of Maspalomas and the lively strip at Playa del Inglés. Fuerteventura is all about beaches, especially around Corralejo in the north and Jandía in the south.
Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca and the rest of the mainland
The Costa del Sol, flying into Malaga, runs from Torremolinos and Benalmádena through Fuengirola to Marbella and Estepona, with Nerja on the quieter eastern side. It’s warm well into autumn, which makes it a good bet for October half term. The Costa Blanca, flying into Alicante, means Benidorm for most people, plus calmer Albir and Calpe just up the coast. Further north, the Costa Brava (Lloret de Mar) and Costa Dorada (Salou, next to PortAventura) are handy for Barcelona. And if you want somewhere less obvious, try the Costa de la Luz, Costa de Almería around Roquetas de Mar, or La Manga on the Costa Cálida.
City breaks
Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Valencia and Granada all work brilliantly for three or four nights. Seville and Granada make an easy Andalucía pairing, and Valencia is a good choice if you want a city with a beach attached.
Can’t decide? A few honest comparisons
Majorca or Tenerife?
It mostly comes down to when you’re going. Between May and October, Majorca wins on short flights and variety. From November to March, Tenerife is the safer bet for warmth, because Majorca’s winter is mild rather than hot.
Tenerife or Lanzarote?
Tenerife has more to do, more nightlife and more hotel choice. Lanzarote is calmer, flatter and better for a proper switch-off. Both get similar winter weather.
Costa del Sol or Costa Blanca?
The Costa del Sol has more character, better day trips (Granada, Ronda, Gibraltar) and a longer warm season. The Costa Blanca, Benidorm in particular, is usually cheaper and has more all-inclusive options.
Benidorm or Majorca?
Benidorm is better value, especially in winter, and its entertainment never stops. Majorca has better beaches, more scenery and a wider range of hotels from simple to very smart.
All inclusive, half board or self catering?
The board basis can change the real cost of a week more than the hotel itself. Here’s how we explain it to customers.
Board basis | What you get | Best for |
All inclusive | All meals, snacks and local drinks | Families and anyone who wants to know the total cost before they go |
Half board | Breakfast and dinner | People who want to eat out at lunch and explore during the day |
Bed and breakfast | Breakfast only | City breaks and resorts with lots of good, cheap restaurants |
Self catering | An apartment with a kitchen | Longer stays, fussy eaters and tighter budgets |
A cheap all inclusive deal in Spain is often the best value for families with older children who eat and drink a lot. For a couple who enjoy tapas bars, bed and breakfast in a good location can work out cheaper and more fun.
Spain holidays for every kind of trip
Family holidays
Look for hotels with a kids club or a water park, and you’ll have a much easier week. Alcúdia in Majorca, Costa Adeje in Tenerife, Salou near PortAventura and much of Benidorm are full of them. Many family holidays to Spain are all inclusive, which saves arguing over the price of ice creams.
Couples, honeymoons and adults only
For something romantic, try a boutique hotel in Menorca, an adults only hotel in Lanzarote or Costa Adeje, or a few nights in Seville followed by a beach. Adults only all inclusive hotels in Spain have become far more common, and they book up quickly for summer.
Over 50s, seniors and long stays
Plenty of our older customers do a long stay holiday in Spain over winter: two, three or even four weeks in Benidorm, the Costa del Sol or the Canaries, with cheaper rates for longer bookings. If you’re planning a long trip, remember the 90-day rule further down this page.
Groups, singles and accessible holidays
We can book group holidays to Spain for birthdays, hen and stag weekends or family get-togethers, and singles holidays where you don’t want to pay a big supplement. If anyone in your party needs step-free rooms, roll-in showers or airport assistance, tell us at the start so we can check the hotel and request help with the airline.
Luxury, villas, golf and spa
Spain does five-star very well: Marbella, Costa Adeje and the Balearics have some of Europe’s best resort hotels. You’ll also find villa holidays with private pools, golf holidays around the Costa del Sol and La Manga, and spa hotels in most of the bigger resorts. If you’re after something specific, ask us.
When is the best time to go to Spain?
For a beach holiday on the mainland or the Balearics, late May to early October is the safe window. For winter sun, go to the Canaries. The cheapest time to go to Spain is usually January to mid-March, outside half term, and late October to mid-December.
Months | Where’s good | Worth knowing |
November to February | Canary Islands | Spain’s warmest place in winter; Christmas and New Year book up early |
March to April | Canaries, Costa del Sol, city breaks | Easter 2027 falls on 28 March, so prices rise around it |
May to June | Everywhere | Warm without the crowds; May half term is busy |
July to August | Everywhere, but hot inland | Most expensive weeks of the year; Seville and Madrid can pass 40°C |
September to October | Balearics, Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca | Sea is at its warmest; October half term is popular |
School holiday dates to plan around in 2027
Most English schools have February half term in the week of 15 February 2027, Easter around the end of March, May half term from 31 May, the summer break from late July, and October half term at the end of October. Your council’s dates may differ slightly, so check before you book. These are the weeks when school holiday deals to Spain go first.
Booking early or leaving it late?
For school holidays, book early, ideally before Christmas for the following summer. Last minute holidays to Spain can still be good value for couples and people without fixed dates, especially in May, June and late September, but the best family rooms rarely survive until the last minute.
How long should you go for?
A long weekend is plenty for a city break, and three or four nights in Benidorm or Majorca makes a good short break in spring or autumn. Seven nights is the most popular length for a beach holiday. Ten or fourteen nights makes sense for the Canaries, where the flight is longer. And a three-week holiday is perfect for winter sun, especially if you’re retired or working remotely.
Flying to Spain from your local airport
You can fly to Spain from almost every airport in the UK, including London Gatwick, Heathrow, Stansted and Luton, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Newcastle, Liverpool, East Midlands, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Belfast, Cardiff, Southampton, Exeter and Norwich. Majorca, Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante are served from nearly all of them. Smaller destinations like Menorca, Almería or Murcia (for La Manga) have fewer departure airports and fewer flights a week, so it’s worth asking us early.
From London to | Roughly how long |
Barcelona | 2 hours |
Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza | 2 hours 15 minutes |
Alicante (Costa Blanca) | 2 hours 25 minutes |
Malaga (Costa del Sol) | 2 hours 40 minutes |
Lanzarote, Fuerteventura | About 4 hours |
Tenerife, Gran Canaria | About 4 hours 15 minutes |
Flights from Scotland and the North East take a little longer. We’ll always show you the exact times.
Spreading the cost: low deposits and paying monthly
[CONFIRM BEFORE PUBLISHING – edit this section to match your actual payment terms.] You can secure most of our Spain holidays with a deposit from £[X] per person, then pay the balance in monthly instalments. The final payment is due [X] weeks before you fly. Because the holiday is fully paid before you travel, this isn’t a loan, so there’s no interest and no credit check. It’s simply a way to spread the cost of a holiday without paying it all at once.
Before you go: Spain entry rules for 2026 and 2027
British passport holders don’t need a visa for Spain, but the rules for getting in have changed, and another change is on the way. All of this comes from the UK Foreign Office’s Spain entry requirements page, which is worth checking again before you fly.
Your passport
Two dates matter. Your passport must have been issued less than ten years before the day you arrive, and it must have at least three months left after the day you plan to leave. If you renewed your passport before October 2018, check the issue date carefully, because extra months added at the time can make it look valid when it isn’t.
The 90-day rule
You can spend up to 90 days in any 180-day period in Spain and the rest of the Schengen area without a visa. Time spent in other Schengen countries counts too, which matters if you’re planning a long winter stay.
EES: fingerprints and a photo at the border
The EU’s Entry/Exit System is now in use. On your first trip, you may be asked to give your fingerprints and have your photo taken at the airport. It’s free, and children aged 11 or under don’t give fingerprints. It can mean longer queues, so leave extra time on the way home too.
ETIAS: the new travel permit
ETIAS is a separate online authorisation that UK travellers will need before visiting Spain once it launches, expected around the end of 2026. It’s set to cost €20, is free for under-18s and over-70s, and lasts three years or until your passport expires. You can’t apply yet, and any site taking applications now isn’t the official one. When it opens, apply only through the EU’s official ETIAS website.
Travel insurance and paperwork
Spanish border staff can ask to see your return ticket, proof of travel insurance, your hotel booking and evidence you have enough money for your stay. Take out holiday insurance when you book, not the week before you go, and carry a GHIC for state healthcare.
Tourist taxes
Some parts of Spain add a small tax per person, per night, paid at the hotel. In Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza it’s between €1 and €4 a night from May to October, much less in winter, with under-16s exempt and the rate halved from your ninth night. Catalonia charges more, and in Barcelona a five-star hotel now costs an extra €12 a night per person. Benidorm, the Costa del Sol and the Canaries are mostly tax-free for now.
Why book your Spain holiday with Travel Hunters?
We’re a UK-registered travel agency, Travel Hunters, a trading name of Times Travel Ltd, with an office at 13 Station Rd, London SE25 5AH. Every package holiday we sell includes flights and accommodation, and it’s protected under our ATOL, number 74904. You’ll receive an ATOL certificate when you book. If you don’t get one from any company, ask why, because without it your money isn’t protected.
What you get from us that a comparison site won’t give you: someone to talk to who’ll tell you honestly whether a hotel suits you, prices that include your 23kg bag and transfers when you want them, and help if anything changes. And if you find the same holiday cheaper online, same hotel, board, dates, airport and luggage, we’ll aim to beat it by £30.
Spain holiday questions we get asked
Planning and prices
How much is a week in Spain?
A week’s package holiday in Spain can start from around £300 per person in winter in Benidorm and run well past £1,200 for a family week in August. Most mid-season beach holidays for two land somewhere between £500 and £800 each.
Is Spain expensive for a holiday?
Not compared with most of Western Europe. Eating out is still good value away from the main tourist strips, and an all inclusive deal makes the cost almost fixed. Barcelona and the Balearics in August are the expensive exceptions.
What’s the cheapest time to go to Spain?
January to mid-March, avoiding half term, and late October to mid-December. Prices are highest in the school summer holidays.
What’s the cheapest place in Spain for a holiday?
Benidorm, Salou and the Costa Brava resorts are usually the cheapest for package holidays, along with Lanzarote and Fuerteventura in the shoulder months.
What are the best holiday deals right now?
It changes weekly, which is why we keep the deals table on this page up to date. Winter breaks in Benidorm and January holidays in the Canaries are the stand-out value at the moment.
How do I plan a Spain holiday budget?
Start with the package price, then add spending money, any tourist tax and airport extras such as parking. On all inclusive, around €20 to €30 a day each for trips and souvenirs is plenty for most people. On half board or bed and breakfast, allow more for meals.
Choosing where to go
Where’s the best place in Spain for a beach holiday?
For pure beaches, Fuerteventura, Menorca and the north of Majorca are hard to beat. For a beach with lots going on nearby, the Costa del Sol and Benidorm do it well.
Where are the best places in Spain for families?
Alcúdia in Majorca, Costa Adeje in Tenerife, Salou on the Costa Dorada and Benidorm are our most-booked family resorts, mainly because of the hotels with kids clubs and water parks.
Where’s the warmest place in Spain in winter?
The Canary Islands, especially the south of Tenerife and Gran Canaria. Daytime highs in the low twenties are normal in December and January.
What’s the weather like in Spain in November?
On the mainland and in the Balearics it’s mild, often high teens, with some rain. The Canaries are still warm enough for the beach most days.
Where should I go in Spain for the first time?
Majorca or the Costa del Sol. Both are easy to reach, have every type of hotel and give you a taste of real Spain alongside the beach.
Which resorts in Spain are quiet, without much nightlife?
Puerto Pollensa and Cala d’Or in Majorca, most of Menorca, Nerja, Albir and Costa Teguise are all relaxed places where evenings are about dinner, not clubs.
What are the best things to do in Spain?
Beyond the beach: the Alhambra in Granada, Gaudí’s buildings in Barcelona, the Teide volcano in Tenerife, the caves of Drach in Majorca and a tapas crawl in Seville are all worth the effort.
Which are the best beaches in Spain?
Cala Macarelleta in Menorca, Playa de Ses Illetes in Formentera, the dunes at Maspalomas and the long sands of Corralejo are often named among the best. Spain also has more Blue Flag beaches than almost anywhere else in the world.
Booking and paying
Can I book a Spain holiday with just a deposit?
Yes. [Confirm your deposit amount and terms, then update this answer.]
Do you offer £0 deposit holidays to Spain?
[Add your answer. If you sometimes run £0 deposit offers, say when; if not, give your lowest deposit instead.]
Can I pay for my holiday monthly?
Yes, you can spread the cost in monthly payments, as long as the holiday is fully paid by the balance date before you travel. There’s no interest and no credit check, because you’re not borrowing anything. [Confirm before publishing.]
Can I fly now and pay later?
Not in the sense of travelling first and paying afterwards. What we offer works the other way round: book now with a deposit, pay in instalments, and travel once it’s paid. That way there’s no credit agreement and nothing left to pay when you get home. [Edit if you offer a credit product.]
Can I book flights to Spain with a deposit only?
For package holidays, yes. Flight-only bookings usually have to be paid in full at the time of booking, because the airline issues the ticket straight away.
Do your Spain holidays include 23kg luggage and transfers?
Most of our package holidays include a 23kg hold bag, and transfers can be added if they’re not already included. We’ll tell you exactly what’s in the price before you pay.
Are your Spain holidays ATOL protected?
Yes. Every package holiday with flights is protected under our ATOL, number 74904, and you’ll get an ATOL certificate with your booking.
Why use a travel agent for a Spain holiday?
Because you get a person who knows the resorts, prices that match what you actually want rather than the cheapest headline deal, and help if something goes wrong. And with our £30 price promise, booking with us shouldn’t cost you more.
Travel rules and practical questions
Do I need a visa for Spain from the UK?
No, not for holidays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. You will need an ETIAS travel authorisation once that scheme starts.
What is EES, and does it affect Spain?
EES is the EU’s new digital border check, and yes, it applies in Spain. You may have to give fingerprints and a photo the first time you arrive. There’s no charge and nothing to do before you travel.
When does ETIAS start for Spain?
The EU expects it to start around the end of 2026. Until it’s officially launched, you don’t need it and can’t apply.
How long does my passport need to be valid for Spain?
Issued within the last ten years on the day you arrive, and valid for at least three months after the day you leave.
How much is the tourist tax in Majorca?
Between €1 and €4 per person per night from May to October, depending on the hotel’s category, and much less in winter. Children under 16 don’t pay.
Do I need holiday insurance for Spain?
You should have it, and Spanish border staff can ask to see proof. Buy it when you book so you’re covered if you have to cancel. A GHIC card helps too, but it isn’t a substitute for insurance.
What’s the flight time from London to Tenerife?
About four hours and fifteen minutes.
What’s the flight time from London to Majorca?
Around two hours and fifteen minutes.
Can I take food to Spain?
Not meat or dairy products, under EU rules. Powdered baby milk, baby food and special medical foods are allowed.
